Greeters and Offertory Families
Welcome one another, then, as Christ welcomed you,
for the glory of God.
- Romans 15:7
The role of the family greeters is to help us fulfill our mission statement and more importantly the mission of the Gospel, namely that we are a welcoming community centred in Christ. The task may seem insignificant, but to the visitor or stranger coming into the Church, it is quite often the presence of a welcoming face that will put them at ease. The greeters are the welcoming face of Christ.
Beyond the greeting that occurs in the narthex, the greeters fulfill another important liturgical task. The gifts of bread and wine and the offerings of the people’s treasure is presented by the greeting families. This role is significant as it is the role of the greeters to present on behalf of the entire community the gifts of the community at the altar of God.
If you would like to be a greeter please contact the Church office for more information.
